OUR LIFTS have a very small building impact and only require one load bearing wall – this is normally on the left or right hand sides but can sometimes be the rear wall. The usual construction method is 190mm thick solid reinforced blockwork. However, any other type of wall can be provided, as long as it has the necessary structural strength and we can take fixations where necessary (please always obtain independent engineering advice for any proposed load bearing wall and note that the non-load bearing walls must always be impenetrable).
An increasingly popular alternative is a load bearing wall constructed from steel, either as two vertical columns or a ladder type effect with a combination of vertical and horizontal members.
Please don’t hesitate to contact our experienced sales and design team to explore the possibilities.
