EVEN THOUGH our lifts have a very minimal pit (from as small as 100mm), it is not always possible to create this when installing into an existing building. As the lift is often being included to provide either wheelchair access or at least, access for someone of limited mobility, having a step up into the lift is not an option (and also in breach of building codes).
A solution to this issue is to create a ramp of suitable gradient to provide uninterrupted access into the lift. Done correctly, this can be nicely integrated and even provide some interesting architectural lines. See the attached images for some examples.
